A: On your first visit you will meet with the massage therapist 15 minutes prior to the first appointment to complete a confidential health history form. Your therapist will go over your health history form with you to determine your treatment needs and goals.
Q: What can I expect when I go for a massage appointment?
A: Expect to remain clothed without your shoes on and to discuss your movement patterns throughout your daily life. Also, please wear comfortable clothes for stretching.
Q: What can I expect in a movement therapy session?
A: It is best not to eat for at least 90 minutes before your massage treatment. Massage therapy has a similar effect to the body as swimming or working out where much of the blood involved in the digestive process is taken it to the peripheral tissues. Therefore a digestive system that is actively breaking down food may be irritated by the effects of the massage.
Q: Are there any preparations I need to make before my appointment?
A: You may need to undress for massage therapy. Massage therapists are legally required to drape you with a sheet so that they expose only the area which they are working on. However, you do not need to expose yourself in any way that you feel is uncomfortable.
Q: Must I undress for my massage?
A: If you wish to have silence, you should say so at the beginning, of the treatment. The therapist may ask for verbal information that is pertinent to health findings during the treatment.
Q: Am I expected to talk during the massage?
A: Yes, you should do both. After a 5 minute warm up, as simple as marching on the spot to get the blood circulating through your muscles, you can start your stretching routine safely. Hold each stretch for 20 to 30 seconds and breathe deeply. There should be no bouncing and no pain. After your work out, cool down by stretching again.
Q: Should I stretch before and after exercising?
